The real ongoing issue is that  children being ordered into abusive custody situations, The Leadership Council on Child Abuse and Interpersonal Violence indicates that annually 58,000 children are ordered into an abusive house.  There is also limited accountability within the industry itself, outside of complaints to their respective boards which to date the Dept of Health & Human Services is back logged with approximately 2000 open investigations of complaints with a 2/3 year wait time, as of Feb 2017.  UPDATE: The marriage and family therapist's board is now investigating cases (Sept 2019) accepted for investigation Feb 2017.

The reality of child sex trafficking

The Texas Tribune series outlining the reality in the state of Texas, that 86% of missing children suspected of being forced into the sex work came from the child welfare system (CPS), further compounding the issue is ignoring the victims whose testimony is vital to the closing the case and putting these child rapists behind bars.  This isn't about blame, this is about reform.

Child deaths within CPS in 2017 dropped to 172 with 60% of the cases being open with CPS involvement at the time of death. According to the Austin American Statesman, who quotes agency spokesperson Patrick Crimmins attributes the improvements towards "public awareness of unsafe conditions for children" rather then the funding and training.

Mental Health Aspects

High conflict cases are subject to mental health professionals weighing in on you. There is limited recourse against these professionals and in some cases, one is literally court ordered not to file a complaint. (Violation of Free Speech) in some cases parents are banned from contacting the police or child protective services. Court of Equity, rather than just Law

The Family Court is one based in a court of equity rather than (just) the law or legislative codes, which is based on the Chancery Court model that begun in the 14th Century in England.
